*** The Science of Magic *** Volume I Issue I As you know, the magic we use is made up of distinct elements. These elements are actually oppose of what we think. For example, when you cast a Flame spell, what element are you manipulating? If you think its fire, think again. When you make a ball of flames, you are manipulating the element water. Everything in the world is at an elemental balance. Fire counters Water just as Air counters Earth and Light counters Darkness. When the balance is disrupted, one of the elements takes dominance over it's opposite and manafests itself in our world. When you make a Flame spell, you are removing the water from a certain area, giving fire dominance and thus causing fire to manafest itself into our world. The elements around where the fire has manaefested will quickly compensate by creating water. That is why when you cast a fire spell that does not hit something, the flames disappear. Novice casters have trouble balancing the elements and the flame, using the same example, would either be compensated before doing any real damage or the balance of the elements would not be disrupted at all, causing no fire. When one's magical strength is greater, they can shift the balance of the elements to greater extremes, causing new levels of magical strength. But be careful, because the greatest levels of magic, the forbidden spells such as the Kamikaze Bolt, require great magical strength to not only cast the spell, but to prevent it from consuming the caster. The energy output is too great for a human to channel and will kill the caster. Thus it is the Kamikaze Bolt. Do not try this at home kids. The following is a listing of the elements, their opposites, and a brief description of how they work. Spell________Opposite__Description______________________________________________ |-Fire_______|Water____|Harnesses the power of heat.
